Progress Check

Week 1: Introduction to HCI

- start on idea
- consult with Ron

Week 2:

29.09.25:

  • Finalized the visualization effects: when the audience initially touches the plant, it blooms; when touched for too long, it turns red and shakes using physics; when the touch is released, it returns to its normal color and reverts to a seed.
  • I initially had only three components (Arduino, breadboard, and capacitive soil moisture sensor), but Ron advised me to add a touch sensor.
  • Showed my current progress in Processing, where I’ve been experimenting with the visuals and interactions.

01.10.25:

  • Completed The Coding Train playlists on fractals and algorithmic botany.
  • Experimented with customizing colors, adding green for the leaves.

02.10.25:

  • Explored the examples already provided in processing on fractals

Week 3:

06.10.25:
  • Demonstrated what I learned from The Coding Train’s Algorithmic Botany playlist and applied those concepts to my own project.
08.10.25:
  • After updating Processing to the latest version, the code I presented on Monday stopped working. I attempted to debug it but was unsuccessful.
10.10.25:
  • Since it was unsuccessful, I tried learning from the book

Week 3:

13.10.25:
  • Showed my current project progress, specifically the animation functionality.
  • The lerping (linear interpolation) animation for the growing element is continuously restarting/looping mid-growth.
  • Ron advised implementing a "three-step" approach to manage the animation's state and prevent the unintended restart loop.
  • Ron confirmed that user testing/feedback is a required project criterion.
  • To measure the user's connectedness with nature after they experience the project's audio or visual stimuli.
  • Develop a questionnaire containing targeted items to measure this specific feeling (e.g., sense of calm, immersion, or emotional relatedness).
Week 4

Week 5:

30.10.2025:
  •  tried creating flowers but the result is weird
